FAQ

Honest answers to common questions about Me.md.

How do you make money?

Me.md is free. No account, no email gate, no ads, and no upload of your answers. Aprex made it as a trust product: a useful local-first tool that shows how we think about practical AI.

Is Me.md open source?

The app is closed-source for v1. The Pack v1 file format and the card-deck schema may open up later if AGENTS.md-style portability gets adoption. Until then, the differentiator is execution; you can audit the output any time — every exported file is plain markdown.

Why is Aprex on this?

Aprex builds practical AI software in Norway. Me.md reflects the values we want more AI tools to have: privacy, portability, clarity, and user ownership. It is built in Norway, but it is for anyone who wants AI tools to understand them better.

Does it sync between my devices?

Not directly. Your answers live on the device or browser you used. On iOS, the Me.md Pack writes to iCloud Drive — files sync across your Apple devices automatically. On Android, you can pick a Drive folder. There is no cross-device sync of raw answers in v1, by design: no backend, no accounts.

Is this GDPR-compliant?

Me.md is designed to be privacy-first. Your answers and generated files stay in your browser unless you export and share them yourself. We use aggregate Vercel Analytics events for product usage, but those events do not include your answers, exported markdown, or free-text settings. Privacy policy is at /privacy.

Can I import my existing ChatGPT custom instructions?

Not in v1. We're considering it for v2. For now, the card-based flow gives more structured signal than free-text instructions, and you can always paste both into the same AI tool.

Do I need to give you my email?

No. You can build and export Me.md without email. If you choose to visit Aprex after export, that is separate from your Me.md answers.

How many cards do I need to answer?

First signal at 5 answers. Useful exports at 40. Strong context at 100. Deep profile at 200. The full active deck is a bit over 200 cards, and most users get strong, useful exports well before the end.

What happens if I clear my cookies or browser data?

On web, your answers are stored in the browser's localStorage. Clearing site data deletes them. Use Settings → Backup to download a JSON backup you can re-import later. On iOS, answers live in the app's local database and sync to iCloud Drive if enabled.

Does it work offline?

The context-building pipeline runs in your browser or on your device. The first page load needs internet, and web analytics may send aggregate usage events when online, but your answers and generated files are not uploaded.

What languages are the cards available in?

The cards are available in all supported app languages: English, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, French, German, Spanish, Russian, and Japanese. Each deck keeps the same IDs, traits, and scoring logic, but the questions are translated idiomatically to preserve the directness and nuance of the original English cards.

Is this safe to use for work?

Yes, for personal preference. Don't put company secrets in card answers — but you wouldn't anyway, since the cards ask about you. The exported Pack is plain markdown; you control where it goes. Use Standard sensitivity for work contexts and turn off the 'Include sensitive content' toggle.
